Ryn Osbourne

Ryn is a Chicago based artist and educator.

She first gained photographic artistic training as a student at the College of Wooster studying darkroom film and digital photography, cyanotype and van dyke printing process, sculpture, and collage.

From 2015-2017 Ryn joined MINT Collective in Columbus, OH working and exhibiting with a collective of artists out of a former meat packing warehouse and experimenting with the cyanotype process. In 2016, she took part in a residency, "Dark Matter," at Port Gallery in New Orleans, and was strongly influenced by intuitive drawing exercises led by artist Heather Hansen. In 2020, she completed the Hyde Park Art Center's Bridge Program where she began writing short poetic texts corresponding with her prints at the encouragement of her artist mentor.

Ryn’s work is the result of deep inquiry into the processes of knowing and expressing the emotional self.

Through 9 years of developing her practice, Ryn has produced a body of work Tension in Ease Ryn’s current projects include:

  • Documentation as care: Ryn is creating a “Letter from the artist” catalogue style book documenting her work and corresponding poetic texts.

  • Personalized 1:1 audience engagement / commissioned prints capturing and commemorating stories shared by others.

In addition to her artistic practice, Ryn is literacy diverse learner teacher on the South West side. Ryn’s studio practice is based in Hyde Park.
