Ryn confronts and releases complex and intimate emotions through an intuitive, movement-driven, cyanotype printing process. The printing process itself is a critical component of her work. To create a print, Ryn takes cyanotype chemicals and makes marks on paper using a brush and expressive movement (these marks have taken on a distinct figure-like shape). The work is then exposed in sunlight, sometimes over the course of multiple days. In this time, Ryn engages in a period of self - inquiry, writing short reflections to articulate the emotions that drive the work. Lastly, the work is rinsed beneath running water. Here, water too takes on a material like quality and allows the artist to intuitively react, creating varying tones of blue.
